  • Summary: The Physician (OB/GYN) works as part of the medical provider team providing medical services to the patients of the Community Health Center. In addition, physicians (OB/GYN), unless specifically exempted by the Chief Medical Officer, shall be qualified to serve on the Medical Staff of a local hospital, provide inpatient care services, assume “on call” after-hours responsibilities, and assist community health center mid-level providers. The Physician (OB/GYN) diagnoses, treats, and prescribes specialized medical treatment services to patients. Physician (OB/GYN) directs and supervises nursing staff. Essential

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide or arrange for comprehensive women’s health care services in a primary care ambulatory clinic setting, including laboratory and diagnostic workup, and sub-specialty referrals. Provide comprehensive inpatient obstetrical care, including delivery and C-sections, and postpartum care, and inpatient consultations within scope of practice. Provide comprehensive gynecological care as a sub-specialty consultant including inpatient surgery and outpatient procedures. Work independently using his or her best professional judgment while practicing medicine at Mallory CHC within his or her scope of practice. Work interdependently with other health care providers and health care staff in a team environment. Perform outpatient procedures in the ambulatory clinic setting in accordance with Mallory CHC’s credentialing/privileging policy. Participate in shared call system with other providers to provide continuous coverage for Mallory CHC patients on a 24-hour basis. Call includes after-hours phone availability and may require arranging and coordinating care with emergency room providers and admitting patients to the hospital after hours, including weekends and holidays. Provide consultation to other clinic providers either in person or by telephone. Consult with and coordinate patient care with clinic physicians, community primary care physicians, specialists, pharmacists, nurses, or other health care professionals as appropriate. Assess patient needs and arrange for referrals, diagnostic and inpatient care, and make appropriate specialty referrals for service. Responsible for accurate, timely, and complete documentation in patient records in accordance with Mallory CHC’s policy. Provide patients and family members with counseling and education regarding health maintenance, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and the need for follow-up, as appropriate, during each patient visit. Verify and document that the patient understands diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up recommendations. Renders care to Mallory CHC patients in accordance with quality and standards as are established by Mallory CHC, the standards of care prevailing in the community, applicable law, and according to state and federal grant requirements for non-discrimination regardless of status, race, sex, religion, national origin, handicap, age, or ability to pay. Provide clinical supervision and appropriate training of ancillary health care staff to assure quality of care for Mallory CHC patients in coordination with Chief Clinical Officer and nursing staff. Participate in Mallory CHC’s Quality Improvement activities including Chronic Care Collaborative programs, immunization improvement initiatives, pharmacy formulary development and utilization, and any other medical staff committee activities relating to peer review, risk management or development of clinical policies and procedures. Participate in audits as required by state and national accreditation entities for Mallory CHC to meet and maintain all necessary standards and requirements. Maintain credentials essential for practice, to include licensure, certification, and CME. Maintain active hospital privileges for inpatient care and surgical services. Attend all required staff meetings, provider meetings, and participate in Mallory CHC’s committees or task force activities as directed by the Chief Clinical Officer. Perform other necessary duties as required by the Community Health Center to meet the goals of providing primary health care. QualificationsKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSA’s): Read, speak, understand, and write proficiently in English Independent and self-directed Works effectively in a team environment Organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple activities and tasks Work with initiative, energy, and effectiveness in a fast-paced environment Remain calm and effective in high-pressure and emergencies Problem-solve with creativity and ingenuity Healthcare information systems, such as electronic health record and practice management systems Knowledge of medical terminology Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications; Word, Excel, and Outlook Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited School of Medicine or Osteopathy Completion of an accredited residency program in the area of practice (Obstetrics/Gynecology) Certifications/Licenses: Physician license (MD/DO) with the State of Mississippi Board eligible/Board certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) Active DEA controlled substances registration Hospital privileges - must be obtained within 60 days of employment Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CPR/AED) certification Successful completion of Mallory CHC’s credentialing and privileging review upon hire and re-credentialing as appropriate EEO Statement: Mallory Community Health Center is an equal opportunity employer and drug-free workplace. Requirements
