- SUMMARY: The Wound Care Assistant (WCA) is accountable for assuring the provision of quality wound care to all wound clinic patients within his/her scope of practice. The WCA ensures that the patients’ physical and psychosocial needs are met in the clinic; all patients care is documented according to policy. This position is responsible for assessing, implementing and evaluating quality patient care and within his/her scope pf practice.

Duties and Responsibilities
(The Wound Care Associate) Implements and evaluates quality patient care that is consistent with the established policies and procedures of the clinic. Competently helps treat wounds of the following categories as directed by the Nurse or Wound Specialist: Venous, Arterial, Diabetic, Burns, Surgical, Neuropathic, Traumatic, Bacterial, Viral and Fungal. Is knowledgeable of the age specific attributes of the patients presenting for care. Adequately assesses and reassesses pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Is responsible for making wound care decisions within his/her scope of practice (as described by licensure and/or hospital policy) relating to patient care and performing other duties and functions that include, but are not limited to those described. Utilizes effective human relations and communication skills when interfacing with physicians, practitioners, patients/families/significant others and takes positive action to resolves patient care problems. Promotes excellence in customer/quest/staff/professional relations. Conduct reflects the mission, vision and guiding principles of Mountain View Hospital and the Advance Care and Hyperbaric Center. Agrees to abide by Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. QualificationsEducation/Certification: Current License or certification as a CNA, Paramedic or EMT. BLS certification and renewal as required.
