Frontier Direct, LLC·San Marcos, Texas
Registered Nurse
The Registered Nurse serves as the primary clinical triage resource, assessing patient symptoms across multiple channels and escalating to providers as needed. They also support the medical assistant team with clinical procedures, inventory management, and workflow coordination.
Frontier Direct delivers direct primary care (DPC) to employer-sponsored patient populations. Our providers manage a defined patient panel with an emphasis on continuity, preventive care, and chronic disease management — a model built around lower daily patient volume and longer visit times than traditional fee-for-service primary care.
We're hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to work directly alongside our Primary Care Provider (PCP) and Medical Assistant (MA) as the clinical connective tissue that keeps the clinic running smoothly for members. You'll be one of the first clinical voices many of our members hear — triaging phone calls, texts, emails, and walk-ins with calm, confident judgment — and you'll triage acute, same-day needs within your scope of practice so PCPs can stay focused on their scheduled panel. You'll also support the MA team with phlebotomy, injections, IVs, and procedure setup, and help keep the day's workflow organized through task coordination. This role does not have direct reports, but is a key point of coordination and delegation for the clinical team.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the clinic's primary triage resource — assess symptoms via phone, text, email, and walk-ins; route to same-day visit, PCP escalation, self-care, or emergency services
Evaluate/triage acute, same-day needs within RN scope (assessments, wound checks, dressing changes); escalate to PCP when needed; document all interactions in the EHR
Support the MA with phlebotomy, IV placement, injections (IM/SQ), point-of-care testing, and procedure/chairside assistance
Support coverage as needed for continuity of care, help manage clinical supply/medication inventory, and provide clinical supervision and support for the MAs.
we do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
Candidates must hold an active, unencumbered Texas Registered Nurse license and possess at least 3 years of experience in ER, urgent care, or primary care settings. Proficiency in clinical procedures like phlebotomy and IV placement, along with strong triage and EMR skills, is required.
Market context
Registered Nurse openings in Texas emergency care are often driven by ongoing hospital staffing needs and the pace of high-acuity patient flow. These roles are competitive because employers typically want an active RN license, emergency nursing experience, and current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications, plus comfort in high-stress settings.
