Position Overview
The Group Counselor is responsible for delivering RCA's substance use disorder and mental health curriculum to patients. This role ensures high-quality, consistent, and engaging delivery of psychoeducational and recovery-focused groups, facilitating a minimum of 20 one-hour groups per week (four per day). The Group Counselor attends staff meetings and training as assigned.
Specific Responsibilities
- Ensure that groups are delivered professionally and effectively to meet desired learning objectives.
- Engage with the recovery community in a culturally competent way, in and outside the group setting.
- Complete group notes and all other documentation in a timely manner.
- Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma Required. Associates or Bachelor degree preferred ; Addictions Counseling or other Human Services Certification preferred. (CADAC I; CADAC II, Peer Recovery Specialist etc.)
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience, preferably in a residential setting.Exceptlonal group facilitation and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences, foster participation, and effectively deliver psychoeducational and recovery-focused curriculum
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
