About the role

The CT Technologist is responsible for the independent operation of imaging equipment and performing diagnostic examinations while maintaining high standards of medical ethics. They manage daily department operations, patient scheduling, equipment maintenance, and quality assessment to ensure optimal patient care.

The CT Technologist performs radiographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision.

This position performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgement, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis.

Under direction of the Director of Radiology and Imaging, the CT Technologist is responsible for the independent operation of imaging equipment and performing diagnostic examinations.

The CT Technologist is responsible for daily operations of the Radiology Department, patient schedule, equipment maintenance, the report of equipment failures, and quality assessment (QA).

The CT Technologist maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times, requires initiative and independent judgment, and is self-motivated to increase knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve.

You’re not satisfied to just find the root of the problem, early detection is your mission, so you pay close attention to every detail as you scan images of the brain, spine, breast, abdomen, colon, heart and other critical organs.

Your Everyday 1.

Demonstrate technical skills and knowledge in use of all CT equipment, protocols, procedures and producing high quality imaging.

2.

Prepare patient for study with appropriate dress, procedure review, education, and ease anxiety and fear by answering questions and addressing concerns.

3.

Position patients as determined for specific studies, specific ages, and specific condition, use immobilization as required and apply radiation protection and safety standards.

4.

Recognize clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and take appropriate action for a positive outcome.

5.

Evaluate critical test findings and review anatomic details and abnormalities on scans with radiologists if needed.

6.

Maintains inventory of supplies and orders as needed.

Maintains equipment, exam rooms and work areas in a neat and safe condition to ensure the safety of the patients and employees.

Checks and inspects the suite, equipment and accessories daily for physical or mechanical hazards.

7.

Clean and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, immediately report dangerous conditions to the appropriate person.

8.

Maintain and advocate a safe environment for everyone and follow all quality control checks.

9.

Ensure continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communications, and an exceptional experience for every patient.

10.

Contribute to the team by assisting others without being asked.

11.

Perform first aid assistance, when necessary, practice sterile techniques and prevent cross contamination.

12.

Consult with radiologist for determination of scan procedures and notify of positive screening responses as necessary.

The Must-Haves Minimum: 1.

Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification 2.

Current Radiography certification (ARRT) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologist 3.

Current Radiology Technician CT certification (ARRT CT) - Louisiana State Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners (LSRTBE) WORK SHIFT: Variable Hours (United States of America) LCMC Health is a community.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification and ARRT Radiography certification. Additionally, a current ARRT CT certification recognized by the Louisiana State Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners is required.
