The CT Technologist is responsible for capturing precise diagnostic images of skeletons, tissues, and organs to assist radiologists in medical diagnoses. They must perform quality procedures, manage patient positioning, and ensure a compassionate and positive experience for all patients.

Where You’ll Work Founded in 1910, Dignity Health - Mercy Hospital is a 229-bed, acute care, nonprofit hospital located in Bakersfield, California.

Serving nearly 90,000 patients annually, the hospital offers a full complement of services including Level II NICU, cancer care, women’s health, and orthopedics.

Additionally, Mercy Hospital Downtown & Mercy Hospital Southwest have been recognized as an LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality High Performer by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.

They are both Joint Commission-certified Primary Stroke Centers.

Mercy Hospital Downtown offers the only inpatient Oncology Unit in Bakersfield while Mercy Hospital Southwest has the only Obstetric Emergency Department in Bakersfield.

One California Job Summary and Responsibilities As our CT Technologist, you will utilize your expertise to capture precise diagnostic images, enabling our Radiologists to accurately diagnose and/or rule out diverse medical conditions.Every day, you will adeptly create detailed cross-sectional images of the skeleton, tissues, and internal organs.

Your compassionate interaction and skill in patient care will be crucial, as you play a significant role in fostering a positive and comforting patient experience throughout the imaging process.To be successful in this role, you must deeply understand the critical importance of diagnostic imaging.

This includes a comprehensive knowledge of general imaging workflow, various patient positioning techniques, and the ability to consistently capture clear results essential for timely and accurate diagnoses that guide effective patient care.

Responsible to perform quality procedures using the appropriate CT department routines.

Must be able to perform all examinations using all the CT equipment.

Selects and uses proper immobilization and supportive devices when necessary.

Demonstrates knowledge of the anatomy associated with each exam.

Participates in PDCA quality improvements for the Imaging Department.

Performs exams in a timely manner so patient care is expedited as quickly as possible for turn around time.

Job Requirements Required 1 year acute hospital imaging procedures Medical Radiographer: CA Basic Life Support - CPR Registered Technologist Radiography ARRT Preferred 1 - 2 years CT experience Expanded IV Therapy Course Registered Technologist Computed Tomography

Requirements

Candidates must have at least one year of acute hospital imaging experience and hold a valid Medical Radiographer license and ARRT registration. Basic Life Support (CPR) certification is required, while an expanded IV therapy course and CT experience are preferred.
