Position Summary

Provides specialized nursing care for patients undergoing continuous video EEG monitoring in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. The RN ensures patient safety, recognizes and responds to seizure activity, collaborates with the interdisciplinary team, and delivers evidence-based neurological care. Required Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.

BLS certification (ACLS is required).

Experience in neurology, telemetry, progressive care, or critical care is often preferred.

Provides specialized nursing care for patients undergoing continuous video EEG monitoring in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. The RN ensures patient safety, recognizes and responds to seizure activity, collaborates with the interdisciplinary team, and delivers evidence-based neurological care. Key Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive patient assessments and neurological evaluations.

Monitor patients continuously for seizure activity using video EEG systems.

Respond rapidly to seizure events and implement seizure protocols.

Administer medications, including antiepileptic drugs, and monitor for effectiveness and adverse effects.

Perform frequent neurological assessments before, during, and after seizure activity.

Document seizure characteristics, interventions, and patient responses accurately.

Collaborate with neurologists, EEG technologists, and other members of the healthcare team.

Educate patients and families about seizure precautions, testing, medications, and discharge planning.

Maintain seizure precautions, fall prevention measures, and emergency equipment at the bedside.

Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and contribute to individualized care plans.

Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention, and quality standards.

Requirements

Candidates must hold an active Registered Nurse license, BLS certification, and ACLS certification. Experience in neurology, telemetry, progressive care, or critical care is preferred along with strong critical thinking and assessment skills.
