About the Role

The Registered Respiratory Therapist - Pulmonary Technician (RRT-PT) Night Shift plays a critical role in delivering high-quality respiratory care to patients during overnight hours.

This position ensures the effective assessment, treatment, and monitoring of patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders, contributing to their overall health and recovery.

The RRT-PT collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to implement individualized care plans and respond promptly to emergencies.

Working primarily during the night shift, the therapist must maintain vigilance and adaptability to manage acute respiratory conditions and provide life-saving interventions when necessary.

Ultimately, this role is essential in maintaining continuous respiratory support and improving patient outcomes in a hospital or clinical setting throughout the night.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current and valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Certified Pulmonary Technician (CPT) credential or equivalent pulmonary function testing certification.
  • Active state licensure to practice respiratory therapy in the United States.
  • Minimum of one year of clinical experience in respiratory therapy, preferably in an acute care or hospital setting.
  • Ability to work overnight shifts and adapt to the demands of a fast-paced clinical environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working night shifts in a hospital or critical care environment.
  • Advanced certifications such as Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist (NPS) or Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS).
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and respiratory care documentation software.
  • Strong background in pulmonary function testing and cardiopulmonary diagnostics.
  • Completion of continuing education courses related to respiratory care advancements and emergency response.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive respiratory assessments and develop treatment plans tailored to patient needs during the night shift.
  • Administer respiratory therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosolized medications, mechanical ventilation, and airway management.
  • Monitor patient responses to treatments and adjust interventions accordingly, documenting all care provided accurately and timely.
  • Respond promptly to respiratory emergencies, including code blue situations, providing advanced airway management and resuscitation as needed.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care and communicate patient status changes effectively.
  • Maintain and calibrate respiratory equipment to ensure safety and functionality throughout the shift.
  • Educate patients and their families on respiratory care techniques and equipment use when appropriate.
