Expected pay for this position is $51.09 - $66.87/hour.

Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.

This is an Hourly position.

Overview

Position Summary

The Lead Cardiac Sonographer leads the activities of personnel performing echocardiology diagnostic tests to obtain images for diagnosis and treatment use by physicians. Conducts, leads, and trains employees in echocardiology procedures. Ensures provision of high-quality services and compliance with department, medical center and third-party requirements, and safety standards. Responsible for ensuring adequate staffing and properly functioning equipment. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served.

Qualifications

Required qualifications

Education:

  • Associate in allied health that is patient care related or bachelor's degree (any major) OR Completion of an Accredited Sonographer Program.

Experience

  • - 2 years of experience in transthoracic echocardiology, imaging policies, procedures, equipment maintenance.
  • Licensure/
  • Certification:
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) in 1 patient population (Adult, Pediatric, Fetal).

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of the patient population served.
  • Knowledge of echocardiology techniques and skills to independently perform transthoracic, transesophageal, and intra-operative echocardiogram procedures in one patient population. Requires analytical ability to recognize anatomic abnormalities, adjust equipment settings to appropriately target the ultrasound and identify irregularities during ultrasound and notify appropriate personnel.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate's degree in applied science Diagnostic Services Experience: - 3 years of experience in transthoracic echocardiology Other Skills/ Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of echo quality and productivity measures along with regulatory agency standards and safety regulations. OSF HealthCare is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Candidates must hold an associate or bachelor's degree in an allied health field or completion of an accredited sonographer program. At least 2 years of experience in transthoracic echocardiology and relevant professional certifications (ARDMS or CCI) are required.
