Why Our Veterinary Technicians Love It Here Monday–Friday schedule with no weekends Flexible scheduling that supports a healthy work-life balance Supportive, collaborative team that genuinely appreciates one another Opportunities to fully utilize and strengthen your technical skills A workplace where being yourself is encouraged Professional development and continuing education opportunities Opportunity to use your veterinary skills to make a difference in your community Occasional coffee runs, ice cream parties, and meals on us A team that knows great medicine and a little fun can coexist What Our Veterinary Technicians Do Triage patients and obtain thorough histories, vitals, and patient assessments Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and procedures Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care from intake through discharge Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, fluid therapy, and sample collection Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed Obtain high-quality radiographs and assist with diagnostic procedures Run in-house laboratory testing Support surgical and dental procedures, including preparation, anesthesia monitoring, recovery, and instrument care Monitor anesthesia and patient vitals while maintaining accurate records Practice fear-free and low-stress handling techniques whenever possible Educate clients with compassion, clarity, and confidence Maintain accurate medical records and patient charts Keep treatment and exam areas clean, stocked, and organized Anticipate the needs of veterinarians and teammates to support an efficient daily workflow Collaborate with the team to provide exceptional patient and client care What You’ll Bring Current Veterinary Technician certification or credentialing Strong technical skills, including venipuncture and IV catheter placement Experience with anesthesia monitoring, surgical assistance, and patient recovery Knowledge of preventive care, medications, and veterinary diagnostics Safe and compassionate patient handling and restraint skills Commitment to fear-free and low-stress handling techniques Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Clear, compassionate communication with clients and teammates Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to anticipate team and patient needs Positive, supportive, and collaborative approach Commitment to continued learning and professional growth Genuine passion for veterinary medicine and exceptional patient care The Extras You’ll Actually Feel At Salem Animal Hospital, appreciating one another is more than something written on a motivational poster.
