Job Description
Performs psychological/behavioral assessments and psychotherapeutic interventions and other procedures of patients. Conducts research in accordance with IRB guidelines and approvals.
Job Responsibility
- 1.Functions as a primary therapist and member of an interdisciplinary team.
- 2.Provides patient care, individual or group, in accordance with accepted principles of psychotherapy.
- 3.Selects formal and informal assessment methods appropriate for age, medical condition and functional status to assess patient’s psychological status.
- 4.Administers psychological assessments and interprets results to determine nature of problem(s) and recommend treatment necessary.
- 5.Evaluates children to obtain information necessary for planning and intervention in areas of cognition, learning and behavior.
- 6.Determines appropriate recommendations and treatment for patients evaluated.
- 7.Presents treatment plan and educates patient, family, and related hospital staff of procedures in a manner consistent with level of understanding.
- 8.Consults with referring counselors regarding patient progress, and meets with rehabilitation counselors regarding patient placement.
- 9.Evaluates care provided for positive patient outcomes.
- 10.Documents patient interventions according to department and hospital policies and procedures.
- 11.Performs a variety of administrative tasks, including but not limited to correspondence, attending meetings, maintains records and chart.
- 12.Performs related duties as required.

Job Qualification
PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology, required. Current License to practice as a Psychologist in New York State, required, plus specialized certifications as needed. 1-3 years of relevant experience, required.
