Working under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Surgical Technologist, this position plays a key role in preparing the surgical environment and ensuring safe, efficient care for patients undergoing procedures.Key Responsibilities:1.Assists with patient care and observation duties under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, LPN, or Surgical Technologist2.May assist with set up of operating rooms for surgical procedures3.Opens sterile supplies and instruments under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Surgical Technologist, ensuring proper aseptic technique is followed4.Stocks, sets up, and maintains specialty carts and equipment needed for surgical procedures5.Maintains supplies, equipment, and instruments in a clean and aseptic condition6.Performs routine cleaning, disinfection, and trash removal in the perioperative environment7.May assist with transporting patients safely to and from the operating area8.Replenishes stock of supplies, medications (as permitted), and linens before, during, and after procedures9.Provides excellent customer service by greeting and assisting patients, family members, and healthcare team members10.Complies with hospital policies and safety standards, including infection control and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines11.Performs other duties as assigned to support perioperative services
Education - High school diploma or equivalent required.Experience - Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred but not required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium Max 25lbs): up to 25 lbs., 0-33% of the work day (occasionally) Lifting 25 lbs. max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs.; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environmental conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure, Bio-hazardous waste chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, Communicable diseases, Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
