  • Type: Full TimeThe Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) implements therapeutic programs under supervision of an Occupational Therapist which includes patient teaching and therapeutic activities to improve or restore physical functions, sensory-integrative functions, and greater independence in activities of daily living.

  • DUTIES/
  • KNOWLEDGE: Coordinates and collaborates with the Occupational Therapist and the Rehab Director to ensure integration of the therapeutic program in the plan of care. Guides and teaches the patient in his/her use of therapeutic, compensatory, creative, and self-care activities for the purpose of improving function and increasing independence in activities of daily living. Observes, records, and reports the patient’s reaction to treatment and any changes in the patient’s condition or treatment. Documents the extent of the patient’s involvement in the decision affecting his/her care. Participates in patient case conferences to coordinate the patient’s plan of care and promote positive therapeutic outcome. Reports patient complaints of pain or sickness, and unusual reaction to treatment to the Occupational Therapist and RN. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Sight and hearing sufficient to comprehend written and verbal communication, ability to work a minimum of eight (8) hours per day while driving, standing, sitting, assisting patients movement, writing, and speaking.QualificationsJOB

Qualifications

Graduate of a curriculum in Occupational Therapy accredited American Occupational Therapy Association. Current licensed by the state of Texas to practice as a Occupational Therapist Assistant. Two years’ experience as an Occupational Therapist Assistant in home health preferred. DEGRESS OF TRAVEL: Must have a car with current insurance coverage and a State driver’s license. DEGRESS OF DISRUPTION TO ROUTINE, OVERTIME: Must be able to adapt to client status and needs as directed. Schedule changes daily due to client condition and needs, new clients, etc. SAFETY HAZARDS IN JOB: Possible infections from clients, auto accident, unsafe neighborhoods. Requirements

Candidates must be graduates of an accredited Occupational Therapy curriculum and hold a current license to practice in the state of Texas. Two years of experience in home health is preferred, and the role requires a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
