Why Our Veterinary Technicians Love It Here A supportive, team-first environment where coworkers genuinely help one another Leadership that listens and values your ideas and contributions A close-knit culture that celebrates birthdays, milestones, and individual personalities Opportunities to continue learning and expanding your technical skills A four-doctor practice with a collaborative medical team A hospital committed to excellent, compassionate patient care Professional growth supported through continuing education and mentorship A workplace where hard work and laughter go hand in hand What Our Veterinary Technicians Do Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, surgeries, and dental procedures Triage patients and obtain thorough medical histories, vital signs, and patient assessments Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care from patient intake through discharge Safely handle and restrain patients using appropriate techniques Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, fluid therapy, and diagnostic sample collection Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed Obtain high-quality diagnostic radiographs Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for reference laboratories Prepare patients and equipment for surgical and dental procedures Monitor anesthesia and patient vital signs throughout procedures and recovery Educate clients regarding medications, preventive care, treatment plans, and discharge instructions Maintain accurate and complete medical records Keep treatment, surgical, and exam areas clean, organized, stocked, and ready for patient care Collaborate with doctors and teammates to maintain an efficient workflow and positive hospital culture What You’ll Bring Previous Veterinary Technician experience in a clinical setting Licensed Veterinary Technician credential welcomed but not required Strong technical skills and confidence providing hands-on patient care Experience with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, laboratory procedures, and diagnostic imaging Knowledge of anesthesia monitoring, surgical assistance, and patient recovery Safe and compassionate patient handling and restraint skills Excellent communication and client education skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to multitask and remain composed in a busy veterinary environment Positive attitude, dependability, and a collaborative mindset Willingness to share your experience while continuing to learn and grow Genuine passion for veterinary medicine and exceptional patient care The Extras You’ll Actually Feel At South Orange Animal Hospital, we believe a strong team is built by people who support one another, respect each other’s individuality, and recognize the value every person brings to the hospital.
