Under the general supervision of the Clinic Manager, the Medical Assistant will perform certain clinical duties. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs, administering medications, and direct care duties as needed and in accordance with established policies and procedures. The MA will complete a training program as directed by the MA Coordinator.
Room patients which includes obtaining vital signs, verifying medications (medication reconciliation), medical history, and obtaining other pertinent information. Assist physicians and nurses as needed. Perform EKG’s. Perform peak flows/spirometry. Administer O2 as directed by provider. Perform in-office labs and UDS. Perform routine prescription refills under the supervision of the MA Lead. Enter orders for medication and labs as directed by provider. Scrub charts/huddle with provider and team daily. Perform normal lab call backs. Injections and immunization administration. Assist with procedures. Packaging instruments for the Autoclave. Schedule patients for follow-up per provider. Assist team with desktop items. Maintain all logs and required checks
High school graduate or equivalent education. The ability to obtain National Certification within two years of date of hire with Aviva Health. Current BLS certification or receiving it first day of employment. Ability to work independently, detail oriented, organized, work effectively under pressure, and meet deadlines. Excellent computer and organizational skills. Demonstrated knowledge of office procedures, patient flow, triage and scheduling. Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word and writing clearly and concisely. Ability to follow verbal and written directions. Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions and deliver upon expectations.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and the ability to obtain National Certification within two years. A current BLS certification is required, along with strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a clinical environment.
