About the role

The Licensed Veterinary Technician provides primary medical support to veterinarians, including patient care, surgery, anesthesia, and laboratory procedures. They also play an integral role in client education and mentoring veterinary support staff to maintain high standards of care.

Position Summary

The Licensed Veterinary Technician is the Veterinarians primary medical support to provide excellent patient care, exceptional client education and support in all areas of the hospital. They should have a deep knowledge of common medical conditions and commonly used medications. Be proficient in all areas of veterinary medicine to include but not limited to; patient care, surgery, anesthesia, dentistry, radiology, laboratory skills, client communication and education. Will have an integral role in communication and mentoring of veterinary assistants and veterinary support team in order to consistently maintain high standards of patient care and client needs among all levels within the hospital.

  • Ability to critically think and anticipate Veterinarian and patient needs

  • Self-starter and ability to prioritize and take initiative
  • Familiar with or open to learn animal behavior and assessing animal body language
  • Can stay calm and efficient in a medical crisis
  • Exhibit patience and respect to animals always
  • Has physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs., walk dogs up to 120 lbs. and can stand or walk for extended periods of time

The Licensed Veterinary Technician will be supported by

  • Hospital Licensed Veterinary Technician Lead or Veterinary Assistant Lead
  • Hospital Site Lead and/or Site Leader
  • Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
  • Chief Medical Officer
  • Clinical Learning & Development Strategist

Requirements

Candidates must hold a professional license in good standing and possess strong communication and critical thinking skills. The role requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and handle large dogs, along with a growth mindset and the ability to remain calm in medical crises.
