Shift 12-hour shifts; every 3rd weekend rotation Scheduled Weekly Hours 0.4 POSITION PURPOSE: Provides professional nursing under supervision within an assigned unit, department or specialty area utilizing the nursing process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ensures optimal patient care utilizing the nursing process under the direction of a registered nurse or physician.
Maintains patient records and documents to ensure an accurate record of the patient’s medical and nursing care, to include computer systems as necessary.
Administers and controls narcotics, medications and IV therapies in accordance with the Licensed Practical Nurse, Nurse Practice Act.
Assists with assessing and planning patient/family education and discharge needs.
Recognizes and responds to emergency situations appropriately.
Collaborates with the Registered Nurse or Physician in problem-solving to include initiating, delegating and evaluating patient care team functions.
Promotes an environment conducive to professional practice by functioning as a role model and resource person for other patient services team members.
Practices competencies in nursing skills based upon current scientific knowledge.
SPECIALIZED KNOW-HOW & REQUIREMENTS: Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing education program required.
Current Illinois Licensed Practical Nurse Licensure required.
Previous experience working in an acute care setting is preferred.
In-depth working knowledge of current concepts, principles and procedures used in patient care within an acute care setting, preferred.
Must obtain BLS within 30 days of hire and maintain throughout employment.

Requires graduation from an accredited Practical Nursing program and a current Illinois LPN license. Must obtain BLS certification within 30 days of hire and possess strong knowledge of acute care nursing principles.
