Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Senior HIM Specialist, you will perform advanced Health Information Management functions to support the integrity, accuracy, and availability of patient health records across the entire medical record lifecycle.Every day you will independently manage complex workflows including document imaging, chart analysis, data integrity resolution, and record completion processes, serving as a resource within the HIM department.
You'll ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including HIPAA, while supporting providers and internal stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.To be successful in this role you will bring strong technical HIM expertise, sound independent judgment, and the ability to serve as a reliable resource for colleagues and stakeholders while working efficiently under pressure.
Perform advanced HIM functions including document imaging (prep, scan, index, quality review) Analyze medical records for completeness; assign and manage deficiencies in accordance with regulatory requirements Investigate and resolve data integrity issues (e.g., duplicate or unlinked medical record numbers) and maintain Master Patient Index accuracy Process and reconcile rejected orders and support provider completion workflows Support and process release of information (ROI) requests in compliance with regulatory standards Ensure adherence to HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements Job Requirements Required High School Graduate General Studies, upon hire or High School GED General Studies, upon hire and 1-3 years Minimum of 2 years of Health Information Management experience in an acute care or healthcare setting or progress towards a RHIT, RHIA or progress towards a healthcare or business college degree program with relevant related experience., upon hire and Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and HIM applications required , upon hire and Preferred Associates Other Associates Degree in health-related field (RHIT) or completion of healthcare degree program (RHIA) preferred upon hire., upon hire and Experience with data integrity, chart analysis, and record completion workflows preferred, upon hire Registered Health Information Administrator, upon hire or Registered Health Information Technician, upon hire
