About the Role

Southern Live Oak Wellness and Hidden Creek are seeking a dependable and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our medical team at our Dunwoody and Tallapoosa locations. The Medical Assistant plays an important role in supporting the day-to-day medical needs of our clients and working closely with nurses, providers, and other members of the treatment team. This is a hands-on position for someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare environment, takes pride in accurate documentation, and understands the importance of treating every client with professionalism, respect, and confidentiality. Experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, or a residential treatment setting is a plus, but we are also interested in Medical Assistants with strong clinical experience who are looking to bring their skills into a behavioral healthcare environment. Essential Responsibilities Obtain and document client vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respirations, oxygen saturation, and weight. Assist with client intake and collection of medical histories and other pertinent health information. Support medical providers and nursing staff with routine clinical procedures and patient care. Assist with medication-related duties and other clinical responsibilities within the scope of training, certification, and organizational policy. Perform injections and other clinical procedures as authorized and within applicable scope of practice. Monitor clients and promptly communicate changes in condition, abnormal findings, or medical concerns to the appropriate medical or nursing staff. Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential medical records and documentation. Assist with laboratory testing, specimen collection, and other medical procedures as assigned. Prepare examination and treatment areas and maintain appropriate medical supplies and equipment. Monitor medical supplies and communicate inventory needs to the appropriate team member. Follow infection-control procedures, universal precautions, and applicable safety standards. Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and follow established emergency procedures. Work collaboratively with nurses, physicians, therapists, behavioral health staff, and other members of the treatment team. Protect client confidentiality and maintain compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies. Provide respectful, professional, and client-centered care at all times. Perform other duties related to the medical assistant role as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred. Medical Assistant certification preferred or required based on the responsibilities of the position and applicable requirements. At least 1 year of Medical Assistant or related clinical healthcare experience preferred. Behavioral health, substance use treatment, residential treatment, psychiatric, or co-occurring treatment experience is a plus. Current CPR/BLS certification required. Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Ability to recognize changes in a client's medical condition and appropriately escalate concerns. Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality. Comfortable working with individuals who may have complex medical, behavioral health, or substance use needs. Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful or fast-paced situations. Must successfully meet all applicable background screening and employment requirements. Preferred Experience Candidates with experience in any of the following environments are encouraged to apply: Behavioral health Substance use treatment Residential treatment Psychiatric healthcare Primary care Urgent care Hospital or outpatient medical settings Detoxification or recovery settings Co-occurring mental health and substance use treatment What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is reliable, compassionate, clinically confident, and team-oriented. You should be comfortable interacting directly with clients while also understanding the importance of accurate documentation, communication, and following established medical protocols. Experience in behavioral health is valuable, but we are willing to consider strong Medical Assistants from other healthcare settings who are eager to learn and contribute to a multidisciplinary treatment environment.
