The Float Medical Assistant supports clinical operations by managing patient flow, rooming patients, and assisting with dermatological procedures and surgeries. They also perform administrative tasks, including scribing in the Electronic Medical Record and assessing patient needs to prioritize urgent care.

The Float Medical Assistant plays a critical role in ensuring smooth clinical operations by performing a wide range of medical duties and providing direct support to both providers and patients.

This position is a balance of administrative and hands-on MA work.

The Float MA will quickly assess patients' needs both in person and over the phone to ensure that urgent issues are priorities and providers have the right information to make decisions.

Hands-on patient care duties include assisting with patient flow, rooming patients, assisting in general dermatology procedures, surgery assisting, Electronic Medical Record scribing on an iPad, lab duties, and phlebotomy.

Strong clinical knowledge to recognize urgent vs not urgent symptoms is essential to success in this role.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a current Medical Assistant certification from a nationally accredited program and possess BLS certification. At least one year of outpatient medical assistant experience, preferably in dermatology, is required.
