At CHI Health Good Samaritan, you’ll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service.
Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery, a level II neonatal intensive care unit, a nationally accredited cancer center, comprehensive neurosurgery, advanced orthopedic program, and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.
Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Environmental Services Technician at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, Nebraska, you’ll keep our patient rooms and all areas of the hospital clean and sanitized to protect everyone from potential illness or injury due to infectious diseases or other hazards.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need to understand the importance of why and how we sanitize and disinfect different environments.
You are in total control of your space- where process and supplies matter.
You appreciate the cleanliness of our hospital, and it is a direct reflection of how we care for the people in our community.We provide you with personal protective equipment (PPE) to keep you safe and while you’re providing that same level of safety to others.
Everyday you will be expected to: Provide routine cleaning and decluttering to appropriate areas of the hospital - dusting, sweeping, mopping, and disposing of trash.
Restock supplies as needed in supply areas, common areas, and patient rooms.
This may include soap, paper towels, bath tissue, facial tissue, bath linens, bed linens and your own cleaning supplies in supply closets.
Learn and follow proper techniques for disposal of all medical waste, including biological or biohazard waste such as bodily fluids or sharp implements.
Sanitize appropriate areas of the hospital using approved tools and routines which may vary by location.
Patient rooms, emergency rooms, and operating rooms will all have their own procedures and vary from the hallways, nurses’ stations, waiting areas, and restrooms.
Use proper chemicals, procedures, and equipment to clean and disinfect surfaces thoroughly.
Adheres to all hospital required Safety, Risk Management and Infection Control practices Remain patient, kind and personable in all interactions with patients, visitors and staff.
Candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED and possess a valid medical assistant certification such as AAMA, NHA, NCCT, NAHP, or AMT. Additionally, Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification is required within 30 days of hire.
