About the role

The Phlebotomist is responsible for safely and accurately collecting various laboratory specimens while ensuring a positive patient experience. They must also manage the complete specimen processing workflow, including labeling, documentation, and maintaining a clean, organized clinical environment.

Phlebotomist - Full Time - Float We are seeking a dependable, patient-focused, and skilled full-time float Phlebotomist to join our phlebotomy team based at our West Valley/Fairbourne clinic. The Phlebotomist is responsible for providing a positive patient experience while safely and accurately collecting blood and other specimens. This position requires strong phlebotomy skills, attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy clinical environment. The successful candidate will understand that phlebotomy involves more than drawing blood and will participate in the complete specimen collection and processing workflow.

Schedule

  • Mon-Fri, 8 am to 5 pm
  • Pay: $15.00 + Essential Responsibilities Perform venipunctures and capillary collections safely and accurately. Collect blood, urine, swabs, PAP specimens, biopsies, and other laboratory specimens as required. Properly identify patients and specimens according to laboratory policies and procedures. Accurately label, process, prepare, and transport specimens. Review orders and ensure the correct specimens and supplies are collected for testing. Enter and maintain accurate information in the laboratory information system and electronic medical record. Follow specimen handling, storage, stability, and processing requirements. Recognize specimens that may be unsuitable for testing and follow appropriate rejection or recollection procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked draw station. Follow all laboratory, safety, infection-control, and regulatory requirements. Provide professional, compassionate, and respectful patient care. Communicate effectively with providers, laboratory staff, medical assistants, and other members of the healthcare team. Assist with laboratory workflow and processing duties as needed. Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements. Participate in training and continuing education. Perform other laboratory and phlebotomy duties as assigned.

  • The ideal candidate will: Have excellent venipuncture and specimen collection skills. Be comfortable working with patients of varying ages and needs. Demonstrate patience, professionalism, and compassion. Have excellent attention to detail. Be able to prioritize and multitask in a busy environment. Work well independently and as part of a team. Understand the importance of accurate patient identification and specimen labeling. Be dependable and punctual. Be willing to learn and follow established laboratory procedures. Communicate effectively with coworkers and providers. Be comfortable using computers and electronic laboratory/medical record systems. Maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Qualifications

Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Previous phlebotomy experience or completion of an approved phlebotomy training program. Demonstrated competency in venipuncture and specimen collection. Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position. Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in an outpatient laboratory or medical clinic. Phlebotomy certification. Experience with electronic medical records and laboratory information systems. Experience processing multiple types of laboratory specimens. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to perform frequent venipunctures and specimen collections. Ability to lift and transport laboratory supplies and specimens. Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors including but not limited to work experience, education, and/or skill level.
