The Nursing Assistant facilitates Operating Room turnover, cleans and readies rooms for surgery, and manages medical equipment. They also assist with patient positioning, transport, and maintain inventory levels for the department.

Job Overview

Fairview is seeking Nursing Assistant for the Operating Room at The University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank in Minneapolis, MN!

This position is a .5FTE (40 hours every two weeks) working 8 hour shifts, working Fridays and weekends. with occasional off shifts to cover vacation requests.

About this position: The University of Minnesota Medical Center (UMMC) represents an integrated academic health care system.

UMMC is comprised of two hospitals and dozens of adult specialty clinics located on the East and West banks of the UMMC campus in Minneapolis.

It is the flagship facility of Fairview providing breakthrough medicine and redefining the health of our community.

Facilitates OR room turnover.

Performs cleanup of OR Readies OR for next patient.

Procures equipment Properly cares for equipment and takes action for preventive maintenance.

Transports specimens and blood products.

Transports dirty case carts to decontamination area.

Provides Patient Care: Assists in transfer/positioning of patients.

Assists with preparation of patients for surgery.

Transports patient.Maintains Inventory Control.

Orders and manages supplies as directed.

Restocks department with supplies.

Makes rounds to keep current inventory in stock.

Communicates supply issues to appropriate person.

Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.

Required Qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required.

Ontrack participants needs to acquire the certification upon completion of the OnTrack program.

And one of the following: Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program.

Or Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician) Or Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program Or Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire.

This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience as a Health Unit Coordinator, Nursing Assistant, or other related experience

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and have completed a recognized Nursing Assistant training program or possess six months of recent direct care experience. Current enrollment in a nursing program or active status on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry is also accepted.
