The Orthopedic Technologist will assist physicians with clinical orthopedic services, including casting, splinting, wound care, and phlebotomy. They are also responsible for preparing treatment rooms, managing supply inventory, and educating patients on the use of orthopedic devices.

We are looking for a dedicated and patient focused certified Ortho Tech or MA to join our team.

We are a busy outpatient medical office looking for an individual who excels in an environment where teamwork and patient care are highly valued.

Responsibilities include assisting physicians and clinical staff in the full scope of orthopedics services.

Duties include casting, splinting, dressing changes, wound care, and phlebotomy.

The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, no weekends or holidays and will be based at the clinic located in Munster, Indiana.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Apply and remove and/or assist with casts, splints, and dressings as ordered by the physician.

As directed by physician, removes staples, sutures and external fixation devices, as well as collects or assists with the collection of specimens, including venipuncture and C&S, and preparing specimens for processing.

Prepare and fit all types of orthopedic bracing devices and dme.

Instruct patients regarding care of casts, splints, dressings, dme etc.

Wound care as directed by physician.

Adjusts crutches and canes to fit patient.

Assist front desk with rooming patients in the event it is a slow cast room day.

Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.

Instructs patients in care of and assists patients in walking with casts, braces, and crutches.

Ordering supplies and maintaining supply inventory.

Creating PO for purchasing.

Ensure rooms are cleaned between patients, as well as cleaned and stocked at the end of the day.

Travel to other clinics may be required.

Other duties as assigned

  • One or more years of orthopedic experience/healthcare experience.

Pay Range

$22.00 - $27.00 per hour. Compensation at MOR is determined by many factors, which may include but are not limited to, job-related skills and level of experience, education, certifications, geographic location, market data and internal equity. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of relevant orthopedic or healthcare experience. A professional certification as an Orthopedic Technologist or Medical Assistant is required.
