Salary Range

Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis. FLSA Status Non-ExemptJob Role Summary The Licensed Practical Nurse, in collaboration with an RN, performs the functions of a Licensed Practical Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating assigned patient care.Essential Functions and Responsibilities Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health's mission: Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County; models Eskenazi Health valuesIn collaboration with an RN, performs the functions of a Licensed Practical Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating assigned patient careResponsible for all patient care assigned, and standards of practice with the support of the RNParticipates with assistance in health care team approach for clients; assists in performing client examinations, treatments and specialized procedures as defined by area specific guidelinesAdministers prescribed treatments and/or medications after demonstration of clinical competency and in accordance with hospital/center/nursing policy and procedurePerforms independently advanced skills within area guidelines and after education and demonstration of clinical competencyMaintains medication accountability records, stock records and client-physician schedule Performs intake process of medical history gathering, lab work scheduling, withdrawal symptoms documentation and client orientation to clinical proceduresParticipates in team meetings including input of information that can be helpful to the counselors in client-care and clinical managementAlters activities/behaviors to reflect/ensure adequate care appropriate to age of patient served as identified in area-specific procedures or job specific competenciesEvaluates clients to determine whether a different level of medical care is neededJob Requirements Graduation from an accredited training program for Licensed Practical Nurses, or the equivalent, incorporating pharmacology, or proof of completion of pharmacology courseSix months of clinical nursing experience with patients of all age groupsCurrent Indiana license as Licensed Practical Nurse or eligibility for licenseExperience working in a physician's office, immediate care or emergency room preferred.Knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses if working in mental health (for Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center only)MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING BASIC COMPETENCIES IF APPLICABLE:CPICPRAnnual Education Age RelatedMental Status ExamMedicationsDSM IVAddictionsLegalKnowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge acquired in an accredited LPN training program; skills in delivery of patient care, and use of equipment and instruments appropriate to assigned unitGood interpersonal communication skills with ability to accurately read and record informationAbility to follow oral and written instructions, and to communicate and work effectively with a wide variety of people/patientsAbility to function in stressful or crisis situationsKnowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients servedAbility to use age appropriate communications skillsMust demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data/interpret appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age-specific needsAll individuals working for the Opioid Treatment Program must have experience and training to safely manage therapeutic services to patients and to provide therapeutic services to patients receiving Opioid treatment medication Accredited by The Joint Commission and named one of the nation’s 150 best places to work by Becker’s Hospital Review for four consecutive years and Forbes list of best places to work for women, and Forbes list of America’s best midsize employers’ Eskenazi Health’s programs have received national recognition while also offering new health care opportunities to the local community. Requirements

Candidates must have graduated from an accredited LPN training program and hold a current Indiana LPN license. At least six months of clinical nursing experience with patients of all age groups is required.
