  • Salary: $57,900-$69,341 The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified applicant to fill a full-time Assistant Research Scientist position for the Area Molecular Imaging and Neuropathology at the New York State Psychiatric Institute. The chosen candidate will provide research study support for NIMH-funded neurobiological studies focused on mood disorders and suicide risk. The selected candidate should have interest in working with patients, as well as research and writing research papers. This position requires a highly organized person to manage detailed information in a research environment. Strong communication, computer skills, ability to multi-task, and comfort with clinical situations are required. Must be fluent in English and able to interact with and relate to patients with sensitivity and empathy. This position will include a mix of remote and on-site work with research participants undergoing neuroimaging studies.

Duties and Responsibilities

Recruit and conduct initial telephone screening interviews of depressed potential participants Manage complex protocols Manage documentation for the IRB Assist in Near Infrared Spectroscopy and MRI. Ability to be trained in procedures such as blood-drawing and obtaining urine and saliva samples for medical screening and research.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and (1) year of professional research experience in an appropriate field. 30 graduate hours leading to an advanced degree in an appropriate field may be substituted for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications

(1-2) years' experience as a coordinator. (1-2) years' experience in Excel, SPSS or other statistical software; prior experience working with human subjects preferred. Phlebotomy after training; willingness to perform research blood-draws and urine sampling.
