Single Path ED Coding Specialist
The specialist is responsible for accurately assigning professional and facility codes from emergency department medical records. They must ensure compliant charge capture, reconcile charges, and identify documentation opportunities while maintaining quality standards.
Remote | Full & Part-Time Availability (Minimum 20 Hours/Week) Temporary Position – Approximately 90 Days | Potential for Long-Term Opportunity
GeBBS Healthcare Solutions is seeking an experienced Single Pathway Emergency Department Coder. This position is currently expected to be approximately 90 days, with the potential to extend into a longer-term opportunity based on client needs, workload, and quality/performance.
This position is responsible for accurately assigning both professional and facility codes from a single medical record review, ensuring complete, compliant coding and charge capture for the Emergency Department.

Position Responsibilities Review ER medical records and supporting documentation.
Assign accurate ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, CPT/HCPCS procedure codes, modifiers, and applicable facility coding elements for both professional and facility billing.
Ensure accurate modifier assignment and compliance with National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits and payer guidelines.
Review and reconcile charges to support complete and compliant charge capture.
Identify documentation opportunities and communicate coding clarification needs when appropriate.
Maintain established productivity and quality standards.
Stay current with coding updates, payer policies, and regulatory changes impacting Emergency Department services.
Minimum 3 years of recent ER coding experience. Experience coding both professional and facility services in a single-pathway workflow. Proficient with Injections and Infusions Strong knowledge of: Preferred Systems Experience ICD-10-CM CPT/HCPCS Modifier assignment NCCI edits OPPS/APC reimbursement methodologies Epic 3M Encoder Required Certifications One or more of the following AHIMA/AAPC certifications is required: CCS CPC COC RHIA RHIT Performance Expectations Coding Accuracy: 95% or greater Meets established productivity standards based on case complexity Timely completion of assigned work queues while maintaining quality expectations
