Franciscan Health Indianapolis Campus 8111 S Emerson Ave Indianapolis, Indiana 46237 The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing Ultrasound Imaging, operating sonographic equipment to obtain images of patients' internal body parts to support diagnoses and provide insight into medical issues, concerns or conditions. The Ultrasound Technologist works with and assists the physician in the performance of assigned procedures. This position assists in the training of students and sonographers, in Ultrasound. The Ultrasound Technologist maintains optimum timeliness, accuracy, proficiency, efficiency, and safety during the execution of duties, and works closely with patients to ensure they have an understanding of procedures and are comfortable during procedures.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 7:30pm - 6:00am Clean, check, and maintain sonographic equipment, submitting maintenance requests or performing minor repairs, to ensure proper operation. Clean, maintain, and restock examination and inventory rooms. Research, develop, and maintain technical policy, exams, and procedure manuals. Implement new exams and procedures to sustain progressive development. Explain testing procedures to patients and family members to obtain cooperation and reduce anxiety. Maintain logs and quality assurance documentation. Practice established safety guidelines and utilize universal precautions and infection control. Prepare and position patients for testing. Position the patient and equipment correctly to produce results with the best quality. Operate equipment that uses high-frequency sound waves to record images of internal organs. Use imaging equipment that non-invasively emits sound waves directed towards internal organs, blood vessels, tissues and other structures. Observe and care for patients throughout examinations to ensure their safety and comfort. While under the supervision a physician, completes all ultrasound exams and procedures. Use equipment to record images of motion, shape, and composition of a target area. Ensure that the ultrasound images generated are of high quality. Make adjustments to the machine in order to produce images suitable for interpretation, following department protocol. Review test images to check for quality and sufficient coverage. Compare patients most recent scans to previous results and assess diagnostic information. Provide summary findings for physicians and other medical professionals.

Qualifications

Associate's Degree or Certificate in Radiology or Ultrasound required 1 year of Ultrasound experience preferred Basic Life Support Program (BLS) certification through AHA required Registered Ultrasonographer (ARDMS) or ARRT certification required TRAVEL IS REQUIRED: Never or Rarely EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER It is the policy of Franciscan Alliance to provide equal employment to its employees and qualified applicants for employment as otherwise required by an applicable local, state or Federal law. Requirements

Candidates must hold an Associate's Degree or Certificate in Radiology or Ultrasound and possess a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Additionally, registration as an Ultrasonographer (ARDMS) or ARRT certification is required.
