Job Description

SUMMARY OF POSITION Centerstone is seeking therapist with experience treating individuals with mental health and substance use disorders. This is an opportunity to work with a multi-disciplinary team. No weekend or on call work required. The Mental Health Therapist provides high-quality behavioral health services to clients at both the Shelbyville and Lewisburg clinics. This position is responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, providing evidence-based individual and group therapy, and collaborating with interdisciplinary team members to support positive client outcomes. The therapist will split time between both clinic locations to ensure continuity of care, timely access to services, and consistent clinical support for clients across the service area. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to compassionate, person-centered care. This role requires collaboration with medical providers, case managers, and other clinical staff while maintaining compliance with all regulatory, ethical, and organizational standards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Develop therapeutic rapport with clients – Meet with clients as scheduled to aid in development of therapeutic relationship. Diagnostic Assessment – Formulate a provisional diagnostic assessment based on information presented, identify need for risk assessment (to include substance use assessments). Concurrent Documentation – Completes documentation within 24 hours. Provide assessment services, individual (and possibly family) therapy to those identified with substance use issues. Treatment Planning – Developing, writing, implementing, evaluating and revising overall treatment goals/objectives and plans per ongoing assessment of needs and input from the individual based on their identified strengths. Therapeutic Interventions – Use of empirically based modalities to engage and manage their mental health or substance abuse diagnosis. Progress notes completed within current agency guidelines. Responds to supervisory request for urgent care situations and coverage for vacant caseloads. This includes telephones and face to face intervention. Keeps administrative supervisor informed of all potential issues that could impact the program or the organization. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Effectively communicate via written, verbal, in person and virtual methods. Proficient in Microsoft Office products Coordination, ability to organize, and plan are critical for this role Responds to needs of consumers in a timely and professional manner. Demonstrates good clinical judgment in decision making regarding consumers.

Requirements

A Master's degree in a behavioral health-related field such as Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling is required. Candidates must demonstrate strong clinical judgment and the ability to maintain regulatory and ethical documentation standards.

Qualifications

Education Requirements A Master’s degree is required in one of the following fields: Clinical Psychology, Mental Health (MH) Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, and/or a specialization in MH Counseling License-eligible in respective discipline preferred. OR Applicants with a Master’s degree in a related field (outside of the disciplines listed above) must meet the following criteria: Completion of at least 24 graduate-level semester hours in psychology, social work, counseling, or other behavioral health-related coursework. Relevant coursework and work experience in the following areas: Clinical treatment and treatment planning Appraisal and assessment of mental disorders Psychopathology Use of the DSM for diagnostic purposes within a clinical internship or practicum in a behavioral health setting Experience Requirements Clinical experience is required.
