Position Summary

Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital Works with patients to promote optimum mental and emotional health. Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital’s Behavioral Health/Psych Department provides specialized care for patients across four distinct units: a 24-bed geriatric unit, a 24-bed adult unit, a 19-bed acute male unit, and a 21-bed acute female unit. Each unit is staffed daily by dedicated nurses and Mental Health Technicians (MHTs) who deliver compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals experiencing behavioral health challenges. With plans for future expansion and a commitment to continuous improvement, the department is actively seeking new team members passionate about behavioral health. Baptist Health offers a supportive environment where staff are empowered to make a meaningful difference in patients' lives while advancing their careers in behavioral health services. Administers patient care in an area in a hospital or inpatient/observation setting where an acute care patientreceives active treatment for an injury, episode of illness, a medical condition, or post intervention with assessment. Responsibilities

  • Essential Functions
  • Develops comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment and clinical impressionsresponsive to age-appropriate patients/family’s needs and concerns.
  • Provides differential diagnosis of mental/emotional disorders using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
  • Diagnoses biopsychosocial functioning, disability, and impairment for the age-appropriate patients/families.
  • Develops treatment intervention plans with clinical impressions. The plan is diagnostically driven and outcomes-focused with the patient/family and healthcare team.
  • Develops an effective working relationship with patients/families to engage, collaborate, advocate, and problem-solve in order to support and enhance their mental health strengths and functioning ability.
  • Utilizes differential diagnostic skills and employs various clinical treatment interventions, included but are not limited to crisis intervention, solution focused therapy, individual, couples, family and group psychotherapy, grief and bereavement counseling, play therapy, sand tray therapy, EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mentalstatus exams.
  • Initiates Baker Act.
  • Facilitates Marchman Act when appropriate.
  • Facilitates patient’s psychosocial adjustment along the continuum of care and transition to the next level of care.
  • Provides mental health education, information, consultation, and professional support regarding patient/family needs to the healthcare team members and colleagues within the department.
  • Demonstratesinitiative and leadership in developing mental health servicesthatrespond to patient care demands.
  • Identifies practice based on continuous quality improvement.
  • Maintains an up-to-date, accurate, and appropriate record of mental health activities in patients’ medical chart, which does not violate confidentiality.
  • Meets department/hospital expectations of growth goalsset forth by coaching plans.
  • Performsindependently and provides clinical practice in a health care setting.
  • Supervises and participatesin teaching within the department, hospital, and community.
  • When appropriate forthe clinicalsetting, hassubspecialty credentialing (i.e.,sexual abuse, EMDR, CAP, CBT).
  • Coordinates care and related functions appropriate forthe patient population.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

Qualifications

Education/TrainingMaster’s degree. Licensure/Certification Maintains Alabama state licensure for one of the following: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Associate Licensed Counselor (ALC) Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Occupational Therapy (OT) Handle with Care (HWC) Certification required for Behavioral Health Unit ExperienceTwo (2) years of direct clinical experience, preferably in a health ormental health setting, with an emphasis on the population to be served in the assigned area.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Master's degree and possess active Alabama state licensure as an LCSW, ALC, or LPC. A minimum of two years of direct clinical experience in a health or mental health setting is required.
