Job Summary Summary

Under the direction of a staff pharmacist and/or pharmacy leadership team, the Certified Pharmacy Technician I performs routine technical and operational duties to support safe, timely pharmacy services in accordance with established policies and applicable regulations.

Responsibilities include preparing, packaging, labeling, and distributing unit-dose medications, outpatient prescriptions, and stock orders; delivering medications and supplies to patient care areas; and supporting proper storage, rotation, and inventory practices.

The technician documents work and uses pharmacy information systems and departmental tools as trained and may be assigned to central pharmacy and/or specialized areas based on operational needs.

The role also includes auditing medication storage areas, escalating discrepancies, and handling controlled substances per departmental policy.

The technician may assist with onboarding/training of junior staff and participate in departmental projects and quality/safety initiatives as assigned.

Essential Functions

Under the direction of a staff pharmacist and/or pharmacy leadership team, follow established policies and procedures to perform a variety of routine support tasks that are integral to the operation of the pharmacy department.

Familiarity with pharmacy practice settings, legal requirements and limitations, prescription information and calculations, drug identification and generic equivalents, drug manufacturing, packaging and labeling information, and proper drug handling and storage practices.

Responsible for supporting the operations of the pharmacy and ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of medications and healthcare products.

Utilizes area-specific technology, including, but not limited to, robotics, automation, software, equipment, and information systems.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and a valid Pharmacy Technician state license. Proficiency in pharmacy practice settings, math calculations, and adherence to safety and privacy regulations is required.
