SONOGRAPHER I Education: Graduation from an accredited formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program OR possession of ARDMS evidencing completion of a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program

Certification & Licensure

ARDMS-American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer within 90 days of hire BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Upon Hire

Skills & Knowledge

• General knowledge of diagnostic sonography principles, procedures, and views as well as the operation and maintenance of imaging equipment. Capable of performing routine sonographic examinations as well as a basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology. Possess solid written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people. Good time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadline. Basic knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) and related information systems (Radiology (RIS), laboratory (LIS), electronic health records (EHR), EPIC, and picture archive and communication system (PACS). Work under close supervision or within clearly defined procedures to complete assignments within established timeframes. Use existing procedures to identify and solve routine or standard problems. Ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI). Build collaborate relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.

Skills & Knowledge

• Intermediate knowledge of diagnostic sonography principles, procedures, views, and equipment, including some experience responding to traumas and various hospital emergencies. Proficient in performing sonographic examinations with a solid understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology so as to recognize, prioritize and communicate suspicious or abnormal results. Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people. Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadline Working knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) and related information systems (Radiology (RIS), laboratory (LIS), electronic health records (EHR), EPIC, and picture archive and communication system (PACS).

Skilled in performing sonographic examinations with an extensive understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology so as to recognize, prioritize and communicate suspicious or abnormal results. Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people. Time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadline. Robust knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) and related information systems (Radiology (RIS), laboratory (LIS), electronic health records (EHR), EPIC, and picture archive and communication system (PACS). Prioritize activities and work within defined policies, procedures, and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines; help determine appropriate approach for new assignments. Work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions. Use experience and existing precedents or procedures to resolve atypical or infrequent problems; provide informal guidance and support to junior team members. Sonographer I Pay Range is $71.98 to $100.77 / hour. Sonographer II Pay Range is $75.88 to $105.81 / hour. Sonographer III Pay Range is $83.15 to $116.40 / hour. The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.
