Scope Reprocessing Aide MNHV Endoscopy Center
The Scope Reprocessing Aide is responsible for the cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance of flexible endoscopes and related equipment in compliance with safety and infection control policies. They also manage inventory, perform quality assurance testing, and maintain accurate records of all reprocessing activities.
Responsible for providing on-site support for the reprocessing of flexible endoscopes and related equipment in Endoscopy procedural areas incompliance with manufacturer’s intended for use (IFU) and/or hospital policy. The Scope Reprocessing Aide must contribute to safe, quality, and fiscally responsible cleaning of endoscopes per manufacturer and organizational instructions and adhere to all infection control policies. This position is also responsible for maintaining acceptable levels of inventory, repair schedules, maintenance of supplemental equipment, and provides quality assurance through performance of periodic endoscope testing. This position provides accurate and thorough recordkeeping.
1. High School education or equivalent.
1. 6 months experience in hospital setting preferred. 2. Previous experience with endoscopic equipment preferred
1. Basic math and computer skills 2. Good hand/eye coordination and hand dexterity 3. Basic anatomy and physiology terminology required 4. Strong written and oral communication skills required 5. Strong computer/technical skills preferred
1. Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER) within 18 months of hire/transfer 2. Within sixty (60) days of hire or transfer, meets the American Heart Association’s standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and renews BLS every two years.
Supervision received: Receives general supervision from the Nurse Manager
1. Responsible for cleaning, reprocessing and maintaining endoscopes, instruments, and the automated scope washing systems. 2. Adheres to proper reprocessing/ disinfecting protocols and performs routine equipment maintenance. 3. Assembles procedure equipment to include scopes and physician preferences.
Performs related and miscellaneous duties as assigned.
