What we are looking for

NextCare Urgent Care is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Practical Technologist in Radiology (PTR) / Medical Assistant that likes the challenge of a fast pace setting and working in a team environment. We are looking for customer-friendly and passionate employees to be a part of our growing organization where patients and employees are our top priority.

Responsibilities

  • The Practical Technologist in Radiology (PTR) / Medical Assistant is responsible for performing patient care duties under the Radiology & Medical Assistant scope of practice in the urgent care setting as follows:
  • Performs radiology duties within the scope of practice as stated in NextCare Policies and Procedures, as well as the state appropriate Radiation Rules and Regulations.
  • Assists provider with exams (including patient vitals), procedures and other processes related to direct patient care under direct supervision of the Provider and within the scope of practice of a Medical Assistant.
  • Administers all forms of medications per policy and under Provider direction and adheres to all safety protocols and procedures for medication administration.
  • May be responsible for urine collection for various testing to include employer drug screens
  • May perform splinting and casting
  • Conduct various type physicals such as sports physicals
  • Performs other related duties specific to urgent care such as wound care and oxygen administration.
  • Notifies the provider on duty promptly of all unusual patient occurrences including medication events on an incident report.
  • Promptly notifies the Clinic Manager of patient or employee safety concerns.
  • Follows guidelines and requirements of laboratory and clinical accreditation policies.
  • Must be proficient in EMR/EHR
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or described by Company policy.

Key Duties and Responsibilities • Analytical Testing

  • Perform moderate-complexity clinical testing across authorized disciplines (e.g., Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis) in strict accordance with the laboratory's COLA-approved SOP manual.

  • Calibration: Execute and document daily instrument calibrations, quality control (QC) tracking, and corrective actions for out-of-range values prior to reporting patient results.

  • Readiness: Maintain orderly, verifiable, and audit-ready logs for all pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical activities to ensure seamless biennial COLA on-site surveys.

  • Training: Participate in mandatory, documented competency assessments (semiannually in the first year of employment, and annually thereafter) covering all six CLIA-mandated elements.

  • Testing (PT): Successfully test and document blind proficiency testing samples exactly like patient specimens, adhering to strict anti-commingling regulations.

  • Processing: Accession, process, centrifuge, and evaluate sample integrity, reporting data accurately into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).

The Practical Technologist in Radiology (PTR) / Medical Assistant supports the organization with customer service and treating all of our patients with respect and dignity. They provide patient care services in the back office urgent care setting, which will meet the specific needs of the patient.

Essential Education, Experience and Skills

ARIZONA

Education

Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent; AND diploma or certificate from an accredited radiology school AND

1. Completed an APPROVED (accredited) Medical Assistant training program.

OR

1. Completed an UNAPPROVED (non-accredited) Medical Assistant training program AND a National Certification through one of the following:

American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) - administers the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam and certification; or

American Medical Technologists (AMT) -- provides the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) exam and certification to individuals who have completed the AMT criteria; or

National Healthcareer Association (NHA) - administers the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam and certification

National Center in Competency Testing (NCCT) – administers the Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) exam and certification

License: Certified Practical Technologist in Radiology (PTR)

Certification

Current healthcare professional level CPR certification issued by American Heart Association, American Red Cross, American Safety Health Institute or National Safety
