About the role

The pediatric nurse provides medical care and emotional support to infants, children, and adolescents within a multidisciplinary team. They are responsible for assessing patient conditions, detecting changes, and determining when further medical intervention is required.

Overview Pediatrics is a 38 bed medical surgical floor located within Women and Children’s Hospital.

Our nurses focus on the medical needs and treatment of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults up to 21 years of age.

Their specialized training allows them to provide their patients and families with age appropriate emotional support and medical care.

Our nurses are part of a multidisciplinary team that includes Pediatric Hospitalists, Nurse Practitioners, Residents, Physical Therapists, Respiratory Therapists, Pharmacists, Dieticians, Social Workers and Child Life Therapy.

The pediatric nurse must be caring, compassionate, and have critical thinking skills.

The nurse will need to assess a patient’s condition as well as detect any changes and will need to recognize when further intervention is necessary.

Our department provides educational opportunities to promote a solid foundation in caring for our patients.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of state board School of Nursing with current Alabama or multi-state licensure Experience: Experience preferred; new graduates accepted. Additional Skill/Abilities: BLS required before the conclusion of the orientation period. PALS required within one year of hire. Requirements

Candidates must be graduates of a state board School of Nursing with current Alabama or multi-state licensure. BLS certification is required upon orientation completion, and PALS certification is required within one year of hire.
