This role involves conducting telehealth disability assessments for Veterans as part of the VBA MDE program, requiring practitioners to review medical histories and submit electronic documentation within 1-2 business days of each appointment. Practitioners will assess current health conditions related to claims such as PTSD, depression, and anxiety, but will not determine disability ratings, develop treatment plans, or prescribe medication.
Candidates must possess a doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Psychology from an APA-accredited program and maintain active licensure, which is portable across any state for this role. Essential professional attributes include displaying professionalism, punctuality, and critical thinking skills.
This is a TELEHEALTH role that is entirely remote. Licensure is required but can be in any state because of VA portability. This is a unique opportunity to work with our Nation's Veterans doing disability assessments. This position is part of the VBA MDE (Veterans Benefits Administration Medical Disabilities Examinations) program. The Vendor schedules Veterans at contracted clinical facilities and embeds practitioners in facilities as needs warrant. Dedicated facilities are located in areas where there is a large Veteran population with the potential for high volume. The appointments consist of assessments that help the VA answer questions about the Veterans’ current health. The practitioners will not make a determination of percent of disability or rating, develop any treatment plans or prescribe medication. Prior to every exam, the practitioner reviews each Veteran’s medical or mental health history, using electronic bookmarks that highlight the portions applicable to the Veteran’s claim(s) condition. Electronic exam documentation must be submitted within 1-2 business days of each appointment. The work performed is reviewed by a team of medical professionals to ensure contract compliance. Any requests for changes or corrections must be completed within 1 business day.
Psychologist must have a doctoral degree in Psychology, i.e. PhD or PsyD, from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA).
