Pharmacy Tech III (PRN)

Communication

Ensures timely and consistent communication. Ensures timely responses to service line requests and inquiries. Greets and assists visitors to the department. Answers all incoming telephone calls and provides accurate information as needed. Strong written and verbal communication skills with other healthcare professionals.

Quality

Checks and controls quality and accuracy of work Prioritizes workflow ensuring all services are performed in a timely manner. Considerable knowledge of medication names (both trade and generic) and their doses, routes of administration, and adverse effects.

Teamwork

Works within a team to achieve patient and team goals. Participates in the onboarding of other team members. Shares and initiates regular and professional communication with co-workers. Facilitates and participates in regular staff meetings. Demonstrates a willingness to adjust activities to accommodate the needs of team members/internal customers. Resolves conflicts independently, as appropriate. Accepts responsibility for actions and acts positively upon feedback from others.

Teamwork

Develops and delivers effective education to pharmacists and other healthcare providers. Serves as a preceptor to residents and students. Participates in the onboarding of pharmacists and other team members. Provides ongoing feedback to fellow pharmacists to achieve desired outcomes. Serves as a mentor to pharmacy team. The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience

4 years of relevant experience, or 2 years of employment required Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.

Licensure

• Commonwealth of Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration is required. Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (ExCPT) required.

• Required: State Registration and/or evidence of renewal is required for both Pharmacists and Technicians fifteen days prior to expiration and Technicians are required to be either certified through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or be actively enrolled in pharmacy school or be active in Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEE) or Foreign Pharmacy Equivalency Certification (FPGEC). Considerable knowledge and application of basic math skills, including ratio and proportion relationships; strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Basic technology skills. Other duties as outline in UVA Health Northern VA & Culpeper and facility specific policies and procedures. Ability to drive/travel to multiple facilities/locations as needed. Ability to work as part of a high performing, change ready and resilient team.
