About the role

The technician assists a licensed pharmacist by preparing medications, including sterile compounding, maintaining the compounding area and equipment, and monitoring inventory. Duties also involve facilitating the shipment or delivery of medications and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and standards.

Overview Scope of Responsibilities

  • Summary: Under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the technician helps to prepare medications with sterile compounding, maintains the compounding area and equipment, and monitors inventory. Also facilitating the shipment or delivery of medications to patients and providers.

Responsibilities

Job Duties: Assists the pharmacist in maintaining federal, state and local laws, accrediting body standards, and Policies and Procedures (P&Ps). Performs IV admixtures sterility testing in accordance with policy, maintains appropriate documentation. Assists the pharmacists in the preparation and labeling of medications as allowed by law. Prepares sterile parenterals following appropriate aseptic technique and obtaining required checks by pharmacists and Appropriate assembly of drugs and supplies by matching codes and quantities from the compounding document, Correct labeling of product, Checking the final product for the absence of particulate matter and container integrity and Ensuring compounded product gets matched to the right delivery just prior to shipping. Conducts quality control and sterility testing. Assists the pharmacist in maintaining appropriate inventory levels. Orders, receives and stores medications and supplies. Performs physical inventories according to (P&Ps). Maintains pharmacy records including filing and documenting required information on dispensing records. Maintains and tracks DME and other equipment including cleaning and calibration activities. Cleans work areas routinely in accordance with policies and procedures. Communicates appropriately with all members of the healthcare team. Documents appropriately according to AristaCare P&Ps, all activities using required paperwork (logs). Participates in Performance Improvement and Quality Assurance activities education programs and department/branch meetings. Serves as Process Owner as assigned. Responsible for completing all mandatory and regulatory training programs Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Educational Requirements: Minimum: High School Diploma or GED Preferred: Pharmacy Technician or related certification Experience: One year of IV compounding experience and/or training’ or equivalent combination of education and experience Credential/Licensure Required: Some states require a pharmacy technician certificate or license. Under no circumstances may a pharmacy technician mix medications or provide service without a licensed pharmacist present. Current CPR certification required if involved with direct patient care. Job Skill Requirements: Strong communication skills Excellent organization skills Outstanding customer service skills General knowledge of medications and physician orders Ability to multi-task and prioritize Successful completion of a pre-employment and/or random drug screening test Required Training: HIPPA Privacy Course HIPPA Security Course Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Course MethGuard Course HIPPA Privacy CE Mastery Exam HIPPA Security CE Mastery Exam Fraud, Waste, and Abuse CE Mastery Exam Behavioral Traits Required: Cooperation: Must work harmoniously and effectively with fellow employees, supervisors and others you are in contact with Initiative: Must work within supervision guidelines and assume additional responsibilities Flexibility: Must be willing to work variable work schedules, assist others as requested and available, and be willing to perform all assigned work Adaptability: Must respond to new situations in a positive way, accept change, support new ideas, master new routines and grasp explanations, apply current knowledge in new environments and experiences Involvement: Must enjoy the demands of the job and work with interest and enthusiasm Customer Service: Must provide appropriate customer service (for customers, fellow employees and business partners), listen attentively to their needs and respond appropriately Safety: Must take care of equipment and employ good safety habits Leadership: Must gain acceptance of ideas and accomplish goals through subordinates, peers and teams Attendance Requirements: Must be able to work nights and weekends as required Must be available, and on-time for scheduled work shifts Compensation $24.72-25.69 per hour. The final offer will be determined after careful consideration of multiple factors such as relevant skills, years of experience, and education. KPH Healthcare Services, Inc. is a multistate organization and abides by all local, state, and federal regulations as it pertains to minimum wage requirements.

Requirements

Minimum requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, with preferred certification as a Pharmacy Technician, and one year of IV compounding experience or equivalent education. Candidates must possess strong communication, organization, and customer service skills, along with general knowledge of medications.
