The Research Technician will be centrally involved in assisting various research projects within the Structural and Chemical Biology Lab, focusing on studying protein homeostasis pathways. Responsibilities include performing bench-based research such as cell culture, drug treatments, protein procedures, and conducting various biological and biochemical assays.
A Bachelor's Degree in biology or a pre-med major is required, with preferred research experience of 1-2 years in molecular biology or biochemistry. Candidates must possess close attention to detail, consistent work habits, the ability to analyze information logically, and a preferred minimum time commitment of two years.
Responsible for cell culture and performing drug treatments Prepares lab reagents and media Performs protein expression and purification procedures Conduct standardized biological or biochemical assays and laboratory analyses, eg. TR-FRET, FP, pull downs, cell-based assays, western blot, flow cytometry Analyzes experimental data and interpret results to write reports, presentations, grant and publication preparation Uses computers, computer-interfaced equipment, robotics or high-technology applications to perform work duties. Maintains detailed notebook of all work-related activities Operation and maintenance of standard lab equipment Maintains and orders laboratory supplies Communicates with purchasing and may be responsible for negotiating with vendors
