The role involves providing coding and auditing services for physician and facility documentation, requiring accurate assignment of CPT, ICD, and HCPCS codes based on operative reports and clinical documentation. Responsibilities also include ensuring timely charge capture and serving as a liaison to clinical teams for education and feedback on documentation quality.
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent along with a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Cardiology Coder (CCC) certification. A minimum of two years of physician billing experience, including at least one year of coding from medical records, is required, along with knowledge of ICD-9/10, CPT, HCPCS, EMR systems, medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
Provides coding and coding-auditing services for physician and facility documentation Reviews operative reports and clinical documentation to accurately assign CPT, ICD, and HCPCS codes using current NCCI guidelines and LCD coverage determinations Ensures timely and accurate charge capture to support efficient billing and optimal revenue cycle performance Serves as a liaison to physicians and clinical teams by offering coding education, feedback on documentation quality, and recommendations for improvement Maintains compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and payer-specific rules. Supports cross-coverage needs and upholds departmental best practices

High School Diploma or equivalent Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Cardiology Coder (CCC) 2+ years of physician billing experience, including at least 1 year of coding experience abstracting from medical records Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Knowledge of ICD-9/10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology Excellent written and verbal communication skills Solid organizational skills and ability to maintain confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications: Radiation Oncology Certified Coder (ROCC) Certified ASC Coder Credential (CASCC)
