The Medical Assistant will provide direct and indirect patient care for providers in the CMH Medical Clinic, assisting with daily tasks to ensure timely and efficient patient care across various specialties like Family Medicine, ENT, and Behavioral Health. Responsibilities include assisting with patient preparation for exams and procedures, obtaining vital information, and communicating clinical updates to providers.
Candidates must be a Certified Medical Assistant who graduated from an accredited Medical Assisting Program and hold a current license or certificate in the state of Iowa. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with the ability to read, write, and speak English and an understanding of clinic setting concepts.
Assist provider/staff with obtaining basic vital information preparing patient for examination, treatment and minor surgical procedures and obtaining complete medical history per protocols. Demonstrates competence in the skills necessary to carry out assigned duties. Act as a liaison with patients, family and providers demonstrating smooth and efficient telephone communication Telephone triage by providing and documenting of illness/condition; follow-up phone calls regarding patient's health and progress as necessary. Document care plans, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic health record (EHR) in a timely, clear, and accurate manner; along other documentation needs for continuation of care Perform other duties as requested by Clinic Administrator, Clinic Lead, and Clinical Coordinator to facilitate the smooth and effective operations of the office
