The Certified Medical Assistant Care Guide registers patients, collects payments, rooms them, assists the provider with care and treatment, handles discharge, and follows up with patients throughout their experience. This role involves rotating between front office and back-office duties in an outpatient setting while acting as a patient advocate.
Required qualifications include a High School Diploma/GED and completion of an MA program or equivalent training, along with current certification from approved agencies like AAMA, AMT, NCCT, or NHA. Candidates must also obtain American Heart Association BLS certification within two weeks of hire and possess excellent computer, analytical, and communication skills.
The Certified Medical Assistant Care Guide is responsible for registering, collecting payments, rooming, assisting the provider with care and treatment, discharging, and following-up with patients. It is the role of the Care Guide to companion patients and their “secondary guests” through the entire experience to maximize clinical excellence, reduce treatment times, and maximize the patient experience; before, during, and after the patient visit. The Care Guide is responsible for assisting the provider with front office and back-office duties in the outpatient management of patients on a rotating basis. This role is responsible for a variety of clinical functions within a clinic setting requiring knowledge and integration of available standards, resources, and data; discretion; good judgment; diplomacy; decision making; and a customer service attitude. Acting as the patient advocate, the Care Guide has continuous contact with providers, patients, patient families/significant others, community agencies, and patient care staff and management. Floating to various facilities required based on business need.
Experience: Previous experience as a medical office assistant or CNA or equivalent, previous experience with an electronic health record and phlebotomy. Other Skills/ Knowledge: Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of Epic. Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette.
