The technologist performs diagnostic imaging exams using CT, MRI, Interventional Radiology, and Cardiology equipment, verifying patient identity, updating medical history, and explaining procedures to patients. They are responsible for acquiring appropriate images, reviewing them, documenting observations, responding to medical emergencies, and providing post-care instructions.
Candidates must be registered by ARRT in Radiology, VI, or CV, and must obtain AHA BLS certification by the end of orientation. ACLS or PALS certification is required within 6 or 12 months, respectively, depending on the setting, along with at least one year of experience as an ARRT Radiologic Technologist.
