As an Intern at BHSN, you will get hands-on mental health experience by providing engagement and support in the community and/or office setting as a member of our clinical team. You will assist with risk assessments, brief interventions, clinical interventions, group services, support post crisis or post appointment while providing excellent patient care and compassion at every encounter.
Assigned clinical programs may include, and are not limited to, outpatient behavioral health clinics, school-based services, crisis services, substance abuse services, and rehabilitative programs.
Providing support and care to those engaged in services or treatment
Providing evidence-based interventions, developing and assisting with adherence to safety plans
Developing and implementing group curriculum
Understanding Crisis Team policy and procedure manual, Agency and regulatory policies and procedures.
Participating in the writing and timely completion of any required documentation by state/federal regulations and agency policies and procedures
Participating in care planning and coordination meetings to facilitate care process. As assigned, seeing individuals who are an immediate crisis to curtail emergency visits and/or inpatient admissions.
Participating in quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
Supporting collaboration and teamwork by sharing information and responding to questions/requests from the rehabilitation team and other support providers
Promoting service recipients' growth and development
Willing to work flexible hours corresponding to the needs of the program
Additional duties as assigned.
Mental Health and/or Social Work Master's program student.
Extensive knowledge with PC applications and electronic medical records strongly preferred.
Valid NYS driver’s license and reliable transportation required for local and regional travel.
