The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) serving as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) plays a vital role as an educator, advocate, and provider of care. This position is responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of patients within the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The NICU APRN collaborates closely with physicians and an interdisciplinary team to manage and coordinate nursing and patient care at Eskenazi Health. Additionally, this role encompasses the delivery of diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, as well as ongoing evaluations, including pharmacologic interventions under a physician's guidance.
Demonstrated expertise in neonatal care. Possession of relevant specialty certification, when available. Special privileges to perform specific procedures, including: Chest tube placement and removal Endotracheal intubation - Fine needle aspiration Lumbar puncture Percutaneous venous catheter placement and removal - Umbilical vessel catheter placement and removal
