Job Summary

The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner provides personal, direct care to patients with acute and/or chronic illnesses. The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner assesses individuals using history, physical exam and appropriate diagnostic tests/x-rays. He/she formulates, implements and evaluates patient care management according to practice guidelines.

Duties: & Responsibilities:

• Ensures the plan of care for the pediatric, adult and geriatric patient populations reflect: 2.
• An understanding and ability to obtain information/perform assessment and react effectively to the unique needs of these patients.
• 3.
• Assessment information that reflects physical, psychosocial, developmental and cognitive data specific to the age of the patient; and an understanding of the range of treatment needed by these patients.
• 4.
• Provides urgent and acute care efficiently and accurately 5.
• Provides ongoing patient education and counseling 6.
• Treats acute care/chronic problems efficiently and accurately resulting in patient satisfaction 7.
• Provides timely chart documentation that is accurate and thorough.
• 8.
• Orders labs, x-rays, and diagnostic tests to facilitate the correct diagnosis in a cost-efficient manner.
• 9.
• Determines when a patient’s problem is serious enough to transfer patient to a higher level of care.
• 10.
• Participates in community health programs which promote wellness and health education 11.
• Utilizes appropriate sourcing of supervising physician for clinical decision-making support.
• 12.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.

License/Registration/Certification Required

1. Nurse Practitioner certification

and

1. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Minnesota

or

1. Certification by National Commission on Certifications of PAs (NCCPA) 2. BLS required

Experience and Skills

• 1.
• Experience in the ongoing care of adults and children in the setting of a rural clinic is desirable 2.
