The Advanced Practice Provider will provide comprehensive clinical care to employees, focusing on the evaluation and management of work-related injuries, occupational exposures, and fitness-for-duty assessments. Key duties include performing physicals, conducting health reviews for reasonable accommodation, managing medical case monitoring, and contributing to clinic operational effectiveness.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program and hold current licensure as a PA or NP in North Carolina, along with DEA and BLS certifications. A minimum of 2–3 years of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider is strongly preferred, with prior occupational health experience being beneficial but not mandatory.
Obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations, and document findings in the patient’s medical record, including progress notes and narrative discharge summaries; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings.
Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; educate patients on purpose, preparation, nature and anticipated outcomes of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Perform urgent-care level diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for medical and surgical conditions and prescribe necessary treatment and services including wound closure and dressings, splints and braces, prescription drugs, and instructions for rehabilitation plans. Medical case management and monitoring of the recovery process until discharge. Participate in departmental continuing education and administrative QI initiatives.
Review the work of clinical staff and assist with training and onboarding of new personnel. Participate in teaching allied health learners in the clinical setting.
Review medical literature and/or guidelines to support updates to EOH protocols and procedures; implement updates/changes in collaboration with faculty and team members.
