The dental hygienist conducts oral examinations and performs dental prophylaxis to preserve dental health and prevent disease. They also assist the dentist during procedures and maintain proper infection control procedures.
Candidates must have an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Hygiene and appropriate board licensure. A Public Health permit is preferred.
The dental hygienist is responsible for conducting oral examinations, performing dental prophylaxis, and carrying out other duties related to preservation of dental health and prevention of dental disease.
