This role involves administering medications, performing therapeutic modalities, and conducting diagnostic testing for the cardiopulmonary system, often responding immediately to emergency situations like arrests requiring life support and CPR. Responsibilities also include managing mechanical life support aspects, weaning patients off ventilators, performing chest physiotherapy, and maintaining departmental documentation and quality assurance programs.
Candidates must possess an Associate's degree and maintain several essential certifications including BLS, ACLS, RT licensure in Michigan, NBRC credentials, and PALS, with some certifications having specific timeframes for attainment post-hire. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to handle stressful situations, and physical capability to perform medium-demand tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally.
This position, independently or in consultation with a physician, administers medications, performs various types of therapeutic modalities and diagnostic testing for and of the cardio-pulmonary system, responds to arrest and emergency situations and provides CPR and life support systems.
