The technologist performs specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures, including preparing and positioning patients, determining exposure factors, and operating radiographic equipment to produce diagnostic images. They also assist in fluoroscopic examinations, process images, perform routine equipment maintenance, and practice radiation protection techniques.
Candidates need a minimum of two years of experience in Mammography, or one year with ARRT certification in that specialty, alongside a High School Diploma or GED. Required certifications include California Certified Radiologic Technologist - Fluoroscopy and Venipuncture Certificates, and Basic Life Support, with ACLS required when necessary.
Under the direction of the Imaging Services Director and Chief of Diagnostic Imaging, performs radiographic diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disease and injuries. Operates the radiographic equipment to produce radiographic recorded images of the body. Performs technological functions to ensure optimal diagnostic quality of patient care utilizing efficient and safe processes.
